The Optomap retinal scan provides Dr. Holle with a photograph-like view of almost all of the retina in just seconds. In most cases, this scan serves as a substitute test for pupil dilation in the asymptomatic patient. As most patients already know the dilation causes blurred near vision for 2 hours and increased sensitivity to light for about 4 hours. A few patients refuse to have their eyes dilated, these patients risk having retinal and optic nerve diseases left undiagnosed. Dr. Doyle Holle is concerned about macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, and systemic diseases such as diabetes, stroke and high blood pressure and what potential effects they have on your retina and optic nerve. These conditions can lead to serious health problems and often develop without warning and progress with no symptoms. The Optomap scan provides one more level of advanced technology to pick up retinal problems that might be missed on routine eye examination. Other patients have their eyes dilated but find the experience unpleasant. AT TOTAL EYECARE CENTER YOU CAN NOW HAVE A THOROUGH EXAMINATION OF YOU EYES WITHOUT THE UNPLEASANTNESS OF DILATION.
